You can scroll through track information using the “s” key and through the interface using the “w” key. As mentioned before, it’s annoying having to press the “i” key to view your team’s navigator information. Game does offer navigator options, such as having a driver set instead of the default navigator, but unfortunately you can’t mix driver and navigator settings, so it’s a bit redundant. However, it’s absolutely key to be able to select one driver that looks at the minimap or navigation map, and then one that looks at the GPS, as doing it the other way round will force you to fly at full pace all the time. This has a knock-on effect in V-Rally 3: you won’t be able to slow down whenever you want, and have to pull away from everyone else at full speed.
There are some small problems with the performance, though. Firstly, the physics are fairly poor, with V-Rally 3 having some tricky moments where the car goes off-course before you realise where you are. This results in excessive sliding sometimes, but the game compensates for this by allowing you to use the braking in an emergency situation.
The saving feature, like all the other free racing games, does only allows you to save your car in five places, whereas the full game allows you to save your car in twenty-one locations. After about sixteen hours of playing, I managed to save two cars and enough driver’s skill to complete the rally of England. This ended up being invaluable, though, as it made it a lot easier to complete missions against tougher opponents later on. However, if you’re playing this game for the first time or aren’t as good as you think you are, you may end up with too many cars and not enough money to pay for a new one. Obviously, you have to break the code to get more cars at a later point, but it feels like a bit of a broken game in this regard.
