SubBoomBass 2 also brings two new oscillators to the table. These are certainly not the ‘1’ and ‘2’ referring to the chord base, however. These oscillators are not synths, but are rather new waveforms ranging between the familiar and unexpected. While I did not test these fully, the setup and sound can be tweaked by the number of channels that can be assigned to them.
The sound of SubBoomBass 2 is quite convincing and well produced. That is, though it is obvious that it is conceived to produce sub-bass, it achieves its task extremely well. Dont you wish you could play all these sounds on your synth? If you have a deep-fat sub-bass hungry for the beats, youre going to love SubBoomBass 2.
The VST plugin wrapper is named ‘subboombass2’ and comes with the installers name being ‘subboombass_VW_license.exe. This means that you need two files to install the plugin. SubBoomBass.vst and subboombass2.vst. The latter one is a VST ASIO plug-in that comes with four X:
One of the things that I like about SubBoomBass 2 is its almost (apparent) one-shot capability. That is, when you run it, it creates and saves all the files it needs to create its presets, but you can then easily modify it and save it as a new version. For example, you can create presets for your mix and then come back to them later if you want.
So, in summary, SubBoomBass 2 is not just another sub-bass plug-in, but really, the best one that I have ever come across. I cannot recommend it enough. It was a spectacular experience for a free plug-in of this type.
As always with any freebie, SubBoomBass 2 comes with a number of caveats. If you need sub-bass, this is the only one that delivers. Be warned, however, that it is very complex. Its something that you shouldnt do as a hobbyist, but if you use it professionally, like in a music production studio, it will be of great use.
