The best part of working with Lightroom 5 is that you will be able to experiment without losing anything or having to recreate completed projects that already have a Library. The interface has grown up some and has a modern, streamlined look. I think it is a better tool than the previous version, which was obviously very old. Also, its use is less restricted, which is a good thing, too. In addition, there is a new Like button, which I am sure Adobe will incorporate into other programs in the near future. You can Like anything, from a Library to an image, with a single button push. That is going to be very useful for you when you are working collaboratively and find an image funny.
Lightroom and Photoshop together represent the modern, collaborative way of working: You split a project into meaningful elements, share the project easily with others, and work together seamlessly and effortlessly. And that is precisely what they provide.

It may seem easy to downplay the new features of Pixel Perfect, but I encourage you to give them a try. The new tools and features have been around for several months now, and the benefits are very tangible and generally positive.
Experienced users know that there’s no such thing as a free lunch and Photoshop has always been hinged on retraining users to navigate the nuances of the tool. However, with the fast paced changes and prominent transitions in the few years, it has become hard to keep the legacy tool alive. Skillsets have been updated, features have been removed, and now we’re in the stage where the tool should be retired. Not without good reasons, of course, and there’s no plan of a GIMP sequel, but a complete overhaul is definitely in the cards – the final release set to happen in November is supposed to focus on the solid foundations and improve the true power of the CS suite. Apparently, it’s all aimed at making Photoshop work better together with its siblings, and it will be a time to let go of the tools we used to know and love.

The promise doesn’t sound all that bad, but it’s clear that most of the features can be found in the Composer (as many are). However, I’m looking forward to trying out a few of these features in the real interface, as the Photoshop 2020 update is supposed to be rolled out to all users this November.
