# Photoshop versus a digital camera

One of the reasons you should use the professional-level version of Photoshop and Elements is the size difference between the computer program and a digital camera. Don’t be fooled by the lure of using a “small” digital camera — the images it takes tend to be small and oversaturated — and don’t expect to edit at home as you would in a photo shop.

In addition to the limitations of a camera, you won’t have access to the other functions of a digital camera: automatic focus, automatic exposure, automatic white balance, and so on. If you plan on using Photoshop for many images, stick to a DSLR.

The following infographic highlights some of the amazing Photoshop hacks you can use to make your images look better. It also discusses some of the best Photoshop plugins available.

#1 Photoshop Hacks

1. Cool the image temperature

The most obvious way to make your subject look cooler is to make it hotter. The Temperature control is found in the Adjustments panel that can be found under the H (hue) panel. Simply drag the slider to the right and then move the cursor over the image to select a color and click to change it. You can also set a temperature between 1 and 65,000 and use Photoshop’s magic wand to quickly select the appropriate color.

You can adjust the lights to your subject by using the Lighting panel under the Adjustments panel. The panel has four main options – adjustment mask, lighting, hard and soft light.

Adjustment mask is like a double layer image in which you can adjust the brightness, contrast, and color saturation of a certain portion of the image while retaining the original image. Adjustment mask is not available in Photoshop Elements 11 and above.

Hard light gives you a bright look to your image while soft light gives a more natural look.

The last of the Lighting panel’s four options is the balance. It adjusts the overall highlights, shadows, and midtones. The balance tool is not available in Photoshop Elements 11 and above.

2. Reduce noise and sharpen your image

The image below shows you can reduce noise in your image.

The Noise Reduction filter is found in the same Adjustments panel as the Temperature control. The filter can be found under the Reduce Noise section. The filter automatically removes noise but is best used with a lower medium contrast.

The Sharpen tool sharpens your image. This is done by eliminating the noise in a photo or moving light spots. In the Lens Correction tab you can find the Sharpen tool. You need to select the Spot Healing Brush tool and then choose a good area to apply the selection.

3. Adjust brightness and contrast

SPListItem.File and SPListItem.Folder are null

I am using Sharepoint 2010 and I have the following method that should return the data of a simple list as string.
public static string GetListData(Guid listId, string folder)
var list = GetList(listId);
var folderData = list.GetFolder(folder);
return (folderData!= null)? folderData.Files.ToString() : “”;

This code does not return any data when I test it. So I checked the list with SPD. And I realized that the files and folders of the list are null!
folderData.files.Count == 0 // true
folderData.folders.Count == 0 // true

Are there any reasons why these values are null?
Thanx a lot for your help.

It turns out that the folderData does not automatically contain the files that the user just created through the list.
You must request the folder using the folder ID from the SPListItemCollection returned by GetFolder
var folderData = list.GetFolder(folderId);

How to translate “if you only knew”

I would like to translate the idiomatic phrase “if you only knew”. How do you phrase it in other languages, for example Spanish?

In Spanish you can say “estaría contento” (with “estar” meaning “to be”).
Example: “Tú lo tienes que aprender. No estarías contento de nada que sepas de eso”

I think the word you’re looking for is Dolor.

Dolor = If you only knew the pain.

First Record of Xylocopa santarosai (Ashmead, 1890) (Hymenoptera: Apoidea: Xylocopinae) in Paraná, Brazil.
The first known record of Xylocopa santarosai Ashmead, 1890, (Hymenoptera: Apoidea: Xylocopinae) from the Paraná state, southern Brazil, is presented. This and other data suggest the possibility of species records in literature that were missing during the initial enumeration of parasitoids in Brazil.Q:
