Bugs
As this tool is the first script of this type, there are, naturally, bugs in it.
Solutions
* File Name
The line used to copy the file name with the complete path is copied from the file’s directory and in the worst case the line will be added and the file name copied will be truncated.
If the file name has a path separator it must be entered twice, the path separator will be removed from the copied value.
It is possible to edit the script to fix this problem.
* Image Width and Height
Since there is no fixed formula for the images resolution, there is no exact way to decide the width and height of the images.
If you wish the script to work correctly, you must fill in the Image Width and Height values.
If you use the values that GIMP uses by default, the script will work fine.
The script is designed to work even when the width and height values are wrong or wrong; the values are never necessary.
* Image Path
The path where the image is saved will always contain the complete path of the image.
If you do not enter the path that you want in the Script, the script will end up in the directory that it is in.
* Image Filename
Since this tool is created to add information to the images, there is no need for the filename.
If the filename is needed for something else, it should be placed on a new layer.

What’s New In Image Info?

Store an image information for further use.

A link to the documentation page can be found in the scripts tab below

the scripts tab

Currently created for GIMP 2.8

This script’s main goal is for the user to get
automatic results in the form of a new layer, which can be easily changed or removed. In the process of creating this script, different layers were created, which could be used to store different information about your current image. Depending on the type of information you add, you can not only add the complete path of the image, but you can also add information about the used color space or encoding. You can also even add information about the image’s size and resolution.

The script is mostly made up of optional arguments. They are separated by a space. The type of information can be set with these values: layer, path, filename, size, resolution.

Required Arguments:

title: The title of the new layer.

If the image’s path is stored in a directory, you can provide a title for that directory.

If the image’s filename is stored, you can provide a title for this as well.

If the image’s size is provided, you can use the size in inches, centimeters, points, pixels and other units.

If the image’s resolution is provided, you can use the value as either pixel, dpi or inches.

To create a layer just for the info, use the ‘layer info’ option. If you add two or more arguments to this, the first one will become the layer name.

Filtering

When using the filter, you can choose between a 4×2, 6×4 and 8×8 grid.

You can choose to only include the items that are filled, so that it only shows the layer’s information, or you can check the whole layer.

Creating the layer

After you have done the above, you can create the layer.

Using the image’s path, you can add the title by selecting the path in the drop down list.

You can also add a path for the filename, size and resolution, by selecting the one you want.

Creating the title:
If you want to create a title, you can simply right click on your title and choose ‘Text -> Make Title…’.
