Using 2 context managers together
I am writing a library that is intended to be used by another library. To achieve this I am creating a context manager that wraps the functionality I want the other library to use. Then I will wrap that in a second context manager so that they can be used together. The code works in isolation but when I put the two together the first context manager doesn’t seem to work when nested inside the second. My code is as follows (please ignore the fact that I don’t have error handling and the working part of the code – this was just for brevity of the question):

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — On a sub-38 degree night, Kyle Seager and Shohei Ohtani will make their first career starts at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
The two former Hawaii natives will start for Seattle on Friday when the Mariners make their one West Coast appearance in the second of the three-game series against the Athletics.
Seattle is 33-51 this season, which is the second-worst record in the AL. But there are plenty of reasons to believe Seattle can make history as the first West Coast team to make the playoffs.
When Ohtani arrived last offseason, it set Seattle up for a big offseason. With a left-handed bat, Ohtani gives the Mariners a rare second-base threat to go with Seager, Robinson Canó and Dee Gordon.
That’s a big reason why Seattle made the deadline deal with Houston for lefty James Paxton, who gives Seattle the major league’s best rotation after an up-and-down start to the year.
They also picked up Chad Pinder to fill in for Seager, and have been winning and losing games to pieces.
But Seattle will have to watch Ohtani in a potential matchup with Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani will pitch for the Athletics on Thursday, and he is 1-0 with a 2.50 ERA. Ohtani doesn’t have a right-hand starter for Seattle and will face a left-handed hitter for a second straight night.
When the Mariners were at the Coliseum in 2014, they beat Oakland in Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
And Ohtani already has some history with Seager, who was in the Austin, Texas, area at Ohtani’s alma mater, Ohtani high school, as a kid.
“I had my chance to see him pitch in person,” Ohtani said. “That’s something I couldn’t forget.”
The Halos aren’t the only former baseball towns the Mariners have had a little luck with. After the Mariners completed a three-game sweep of the Athletics last weekend, they have won the last two games against Seattle
