however, there were also other parts of the game that had a very different music. for example, when you first go to the countryside surrounding your hometown, the song that was played was one that i composed based on my memories of running through the fields with friends when i was a kid. its music is a blast of pure energy that you can feel straight to the bone.
because the song that was used for this section was quite different to what had been played in the first part of the game, i didnt know what kind of music to write to go along with it. the songs i knew for the game were up to my level, but i felt that there was a gap there. because the song was different, i decided to look back on my childhood memories to find songs that i felt were close to what i wanted to convey, and then worked from there.
lastly, i wanted to create a song that could fit in with the final battle. for this, i chose the song that was played in the ending for the original version of the game and tried to arrange it in the beginning. i was interested in how the emotions of the scene would be conveyed if there were a part of the arrangement that was also easy to play to make for an arrangement with a festival atmosphere. like with tifa, i hope that this version will convey the emotions of the scenes and that players can experience a strong emotion like i did when i played the original game.
on top of the visuals, crisis core -final fantasy vii- reunion also includes a brand-new cutscene that is fully voiced. a selection of high-quality voice actors are used to re-create the characters in their former glory, from the immortal tidus to the cute rinoa. a musical arrangement of “auld lang syne” that has long been a part of the title screen is also included in the game. the remake also includes the languages english, japanese, french, italian, german and spanish.
I made a mistake in thinking that this song was the only one that had similar sounds, and then I realised that I had neglected to include one of my favourites: Boss Bureus’s Theme from FFVII and FFVIII. This catchy melody makes the player feel nostalgic for the initial battle with the boss and makes all of those final battle music tracks seem a bit useless. What a song! It is the song that I listened to when I was playing FFVII Remake.
Conclusion: I mentioned before that I had worked on composing more than 8 hour long pieces for my tracks. After that, I realised that there was only one more thing left to try. I began thinking about the process of composing as a musician. At the time, I had only composed a few songs, and so I thought that I should compose an actual arrangement of this 3-in-1 track. However, I soon realised that this was my long-term achievement. So, I had to finish FF7 Remake and left that task to my colleague who lives in Japan. Of course, that turned out to be quite hard.
