I have worked on windows at many locations, and all we did was change the letter of the drive, and name the drive whatever, I never had to change the name of the drive. What I did, I setup a second hard drive for all of our system files, and never was worried about the performance because the drive is always online, and if my drive crashed or broke, I could just toss it in the trash and pick up another one. It took about 15 minutes to setup and all it takes to do is choose to mount the drive and it will setup all of the settings for you.
