The trickiest part of our existence is feeling like we are making choices, when in fact the point of it all is to be swept up in the flow of something bigger than yourself. Such is the case with the now classic song, Devotion, where the couple talks about sacrificing themselves, which is Devotions central message and name. If Japandroids Spectacular puts the spotlight on ourselves, then Devotion puts it on a bigger concept: what its like to be alive. Its an album about not being trapped in situations you have to keep living, and instead finding ways to live life to the fullest. Its about appreciating the here and now, and feeling gratitude for what we have. It�s an album about recognizing how short our time on earth is, and finding joy and excitement in living in the moment.
