I’m trying to pass a ViewBag to a Razor page from an Action Filter. I have it set up like this:

( 0 votes )Parkinson’s disease (PD) affects about one million Americans, and the prevalence of PD doubles every ten years after the age of 50. PD is characterized by degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the brain. PD patients lose their ability to move spontaneously, and the motor symptoms of PD can result from a combination of two different deficits: reduced movement initiation (the “start” deficit) and increased movement end-stopping (the “stop” deficit). PD is thus generally thought to be a primary movement disorder. Yet, the movement deficits of PD may reflect a more global dysfunction of movement-related neuronal circuits, due to degeneration of neurons that would normally have modulated movement initiation and stopping, such as the basal ganglia. Consistent with this view, recent research has shown that patients with PD have profound deficits in movement initiation and movement end-stopping that do not occur until at least several years after the onset of the motor symptoms of PD. Furthermore, researchers have also shown that patients with PD have an increase in the excitability of inhibitory motor pathways, which could contribute to the overall increase in the strength of movement-related neuronal circuits. The primary focus of this proposal is to investigate the consequences of such changes in the excitability of inhibitory motor pathways. The first experiment will directly test whether the degree of enhancement of inhibitory circuits, resulting from increased excitability of the motor thalamus, contributes to the movement deficits of PD. The second experiment will use an innovative approach, called single-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), to evaluate the excitability of corticomotor pathways in PD. Finally, the third experiment will examine whether the abnormal movements of PD patients result from a combination of hyperexcitability of inhibitory circuits and reduced excitability of dopamine receptor expressing neurons. These experiments will be performed at Washington University Medical School, an institution with great strength in studying PD and TMS. Together, these experiments will help us understand the contribution of changes in inhibitory pathways to movement deficits in PD. The findings from these experiments could lead to novel pharmacological therapies for PD that aim to reduce the hyperactivity of inhibitory pathways, and thereby help to alleviate the movement deficits of PD.Pages
