These tools can be used exactly like Gross Beat, to create a smooth roll at a slower pace. The Fairway sound, is so strong in the presets for Tm88 that they have inspired the official TM88 free preset pack for FL Studio.

Obviously theres no guarantee that FL Studio and Gross Beat will sound the same under every circumstance. However, they can be used in conjunction and may add extra highlights to your production. FL Studio offers an AU plugin, while Gross Beat is available as a VSTi. That said, sometimes it can be helpful to run the music through both to hear the difference in the sound.

This tutorial will go over some of the settings that can be used in the TM88 delays for maximum effect, while still being able to recreate the sound with Gross Beat. This means that you can achieve exactly the same results without having to purchase another delay synth, or drop another $400 on something you dont use. So we’ve talked about presets, but now we’ll go over how to use them. We’ll get started with the Gross Beat preset pack so that you can see what to expect. The presets were made to specifically enhance the delays sounds on TM88. Some of the settings on the presets are made to create a smoother, more classic delay feel. TM88s delays are loud and kind of overwhelming, so you’re going to have to find the settings that work with your channel settings, and the gain structure. The presets are all available to download for free.

gross beat will automatically detect the gated sound, and automatically create a new audio track with a chorus effect applied to the audio. if you want to change the length of the chorus, you can do so by simply adjusting the values on the left of the widget.
the plugin has a lot of options, so its best to read through them to figure out how to make it work for you. once you get the hang of it, gross beat can become a powerful tool for augmenting your track. in the next installment, we will use the plugin to add vocal effects and go through some of the controls to see how you can manipulate the plugin to get the results you want.

theres a lot to gross beat, so be prepared to spend some time experimenting with it. theres a steep learning curve, but once you figure out how the plugin works, youll be able to add quite a few creative effects to your tracks without any trouble.
here are a few tips to keep in mind when you start using gross beat. always start with a simple step/sine wave, and work your way up from there. theres really no harm in starting with a simple pattern and then going on to the more complex patterns.
