Career
Selfe signed with the Ford Modeling Agency in 1947, and posed on the runway, modeling leather coats and fur coats, and working on an early version of the celebrity supermodel game. She earned $3,500 in her first year, but she was only paid $100 a week. She was also increasing the payments to her agent, but he could not keep up. In April 1948, she began shooting portraits for publications, including Life, Women’s Wear Daily, Collier’s, and Holiday.
