The invention relates generally to an aluminum-based alloy and a production method thereof. More specifically, the invention relates to an aluminum-based alloy having improved corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and mechanical properties, and to a production method thereof.
2. Description of the Related Art
Aluminum alloys have been widely used for mechanical structures such as automobile parts. However, aluminum alloys are inferior to steel in terms of corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Therefore, it is preferable to improve the above-mentioned properties in order to apply aluminum alloys to structural members.
For example, a corrosion resistant coating formed by a thermal spray method, a chemical conversion method, a molten salt treatment method, or the like has been used to improve the corrosion resistance of aluminum alloys. Furthermore, in order to improve the wear resistance of aluminum alloys, methods such as a laser quenching method, a solid solution treatment method, and the like have been developed.
For example, Patent Document 1 describes that a three-phase Al—Cu—Si based alloy exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and shear deformation resistance when a ternary Al—Cu—Si based alloy is subjected to a molten salt treatment.
Patent Document 2 describes that an Al—Cu—Si based alloy having reduced equivalent-circuit resistance is produced by a solid solution treatment in a molten salt bath containing 0.5-15% Si.
Furthermore, the applicant of the present application describes in Patent Document 3 that a surface-treated Al—Cu—Si alloy that includes a quaternary Al—Cu—Si—Mg alloy formed through a molten salt treatment exhibits excellent wear resistance, can reduce an amount of impurity as compared to a quaternary Al—Cu—Si—Mg alloy formed through a direct quenching method and thus has a high purity.
