there is no doubt that the best indian movie is a movie made by the indian. even if one considers only silent movies, there is no doubt. a satyajit ray or a guru dutt or a raj kapoor, or a shyam benegal, or a mani ratnam or a bollywood guru dutt.

gandhi’s first movie is a long and boring movie. we have seen many movies on gandhi and among all none of them were so called good. no wonder why gandhi is not talked and remembered anything. we had many movies which were based on gandhi and his philosophy. the role of satyagraha was played by raaj kumar. the movie was directed by stdmirey. the music of the movie was not good.
this is not a good movie. it has completely lost its all the charm. not much attention is paid to the story, the character of the film, the dialogues and the songs are average at best and the direction is very poor. i never liked this movie. it only happened that there was a period of time when i had to watch this movie. do not waste your time on this movie. it has nothing to offer, except some patriotic songs.
i am sure that this movie is not at all the one watched by a gullible person. it is a positive advice to all the people that they should not watch this movie as in this movie satyagraha was portrayed in such an unconvincing and naïve way. not only that, with the super-productions it is expected that even the acting, dialogue and songs are good, but one thing that can never be ignored is the music and this movie is defected on all the counts. i won’t suggest anyone to watch this movie.
today with the advent of internet you can watch full movies online. many times you feel you have seen the movie before. but i am positive that you will never feel that you have seen this one. the musical score of the movie is so superb that you will never be able to forget it.
however, in a way, i shouldnt have been surprised about this, even though this list was called the best of indian cinema and all that. the whole thing about dev anand is that he wasnt just a good actor, he was a good human being, too. its hard to think of any actor that exudes so much warmth and humanity.
