One difficulty that accompanies plastic part manufacturing is the tendency of molten plastic to flow into or around machine equipment which is part of the manufacturing process. After an injection molding or blow molding machine has manufactured a part, there may still be liquid plastic in the machine’s mold cavities which remain as residual material. A gate, for example, through which plastic flows to the cavities, may even have liquid plastic in it after a part has been manufactured. Any removal of this residual material from within the machine itself, after a part has been manufactured, could contaminate or damage the machine, and therefore is not recommended.
