The application was developed with a need for compression and better size optimization. After the first release we have received a lot of requests to do the same for Phone apps. So we decided to develop a dedicated tool for them. What makes the application great is the fact that it supports both Silverlight and Phone apps. So you can use the program to optimize your Silverlight XAP as well as to protect content and obfuscate your Phone XAP. The program gives you the option to select the input and output XAP files. You can also select the item that you need to keep and the ones that require obfuscation.

By default the tool will obfuscate and shrink all the assemblies that you selected. But it does not un-obfuscate the protected XAP. If you want that functionality, you can select another configuration file for XAPOptimizer.exe.
A shortcut for xapoptimizer.exe will be placed under the folder ‘Program Files’.

After the installation of the program, please run xapoptimizer.exe and check the sizes of the generated xap that are produced by the tool.
After a successful completion of the comparison, your subsequent XAP and XAP Optimized Size should be similar.
