over the course of the next two days, espn will broadcast a pair of feature segments regarding the pearl pass tour and the fat tire flyer, which will show what the bicycle times team saw at the event. espn will also air a series of their own story segments related to mountain biking and its past, which will cover everything from its creation at whistler blackcomb (where knoll, valls, and worthington were acquainted for the first time) to its present-day legacy. in total, espn has given bike times exclusive access to the pearl pass tour, which will include not only live coverage of all stages in multiple languages, but also interviews with the foremost mountain bikers in the world, including charlie kelly, gary fisher, and gino vanelli.

most of the bikes started falling apart, some just fell apart, and some of them crashed, and all the riders were stranded out on the pass, with no way down, until somebody had the bright idea to call out the broomfield fire department. and that, of course, meant that the city came out with firemen and they came down the mountain and removed us from the mountain. the next morning it was time for us to take the stage to boulder, and in boulder we felt like we were riding for something other than ourselves. it was time to do something for the kids. we cant do anything for the kids unless we have better lives than we do. by riding the bike we had no money, we could have never built up our financial situation to support the kind of lives that we wanted to raise our kids in. and that just meant we were ill equipped to be anything other than tightfisted, which is what we were.
