In the DOS version of AutoCAD, commands could be entered on the command line, but not all commands were available. AutoCAD, originally a Windows application, has become increasingly available on Linux, macOS and other platforms. AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT are both native applications; AutoCAD LT is cross-platform (Windows, macOS, Linux) while AutoCAD is only available on Windows. AutoCAD LT is based on the AutoCAD 2008 (or newer) application, and is a cross-platform alternative to AutoCAD. AutoCAD LT is a native (Windows, macOS, Linux) application that runs on Intel/AMD CPUs while AutoCAD is a Windows application that runs on the latest CPUs only.
