I am trying to get the last digit from that string, so I have tried:
string lastDigit = s.Substring(s.Length – 1, 1);

But I always get the value 3, and not 2. Why is that?

You can do
string lastDigit = int.Parse(s.Substring(s.Length – 1, 1));

or
string lastDigit = s.Substring(s.Length – 1, 1).Trim(‘0’);

or
string lastDigit = s.Substring(s.Length – 1).Substring(0, 1);

If you need to get integer value of a number and not a string you can do
string lastDigit = Convert.ToInt32(s.Substring(s.Length – 1, 1));

This is the simplest way, but it is not the most efficient. If you have int you can use it as well:
int lastDigit = s.Substring(s.Length – 1).LastOrDefault(char.IsDigit);

That’s because the Substring method returns the last digit and not a string containing the last digit, like when you do a.Trim() on the string. You could try the following:
string lastDigit = s.Substring(s.Length – 1, 1).Trim(‘0’);

I suspect the issue here is that Substring returns a string. You are calling Substring and it returns a string. The Substring method return the remaining string after the index you specify, but not the number itself.
Perhaps if you wanted the last number:
string lastDigit = s.Sub
